About Our Pack
Cub Scout Pack 234 Sponsored by Morningside Presbyterian Church 1201 E. Dorothy Lane Fullerton, CA 92831 A pack is a Scouting unit, made up of Dens, which conducts Cub Scouting for the chartered Organization. The Purpose of Cub Scouting: Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. Cub Scouting is a year round family-oriented part of the BSA program designed for boys who are in the first through fifth grade. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting. 1. Character Development 6. Respectful Relationships 2. Spiritual Growth 7. Personal Achievement 3. Good Citizenship 8. Friendly Service 4. Sportsmanship and Fitness 9. Fun and Adventure 5. Family Understanding 10. Preparation for Boy Scouts The Pack Meetings are help monthly and are conducted by the Cub Master with Den participation. The Meetings are located at Morningside Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall starting at 7 pm, on the third Friday of each month. Pack meetings are for the whole family. Rank advancement, skits, Pack activities and announcements are made at the Pack Meeting. Dens break down as follows: 1st grade Tigers Boy and Partner work from Tiger Book
Scouts complete achievements from their books at both Den meetings and at home, with parental help. The Den Leader will set a time, place and frequency of Den meetings. Dens usually meet two or three times a month plus the monthly Pack meeting. Each Scout is required to purchase his uniform and handbook. The Pack requires the boys to have the official Cub Scout uniform from the waist up. The Pack will supply the neckerchief to the Scout when he advances to the next rank.
Den Leaders are parent volunteers who conduct and plan the Den meetings and outings. It is not as hard as you might think! We have people who can help you and give advice and there is a Basic Training Class for you. The Pack Leadership wears the official Scout Leader uniform.
Parents need to participate in the Pack too! Participate in your Den and help coordinate Pack activities. Boy Scouts of America requires the Pack to participate in two fundraisers for the Council to qualify for FREE rank advancements. There are popcorn sales in the fall and Scout O Rama in the spring.
